The Story of the Shoes

On a moving train, an elderly man accidentally drops one of his newly bought shoes out the window, and the passengers nearby all feel sorry for him. But the old man immediately throws the other shoe out the window as well, and everyone is very surprised.

The old man explains: No matter how valuable the remaining shoe is, keeping it is useless to me. If someone happens to find a pair, they can wear them normally.

The moral: In life, feelings that have passed and people who have left—if they are destined to be unrecoverable and only leave suffering—it's better to decisively let go and find peace.
