Step 1: Account Setup and Verification
Before you can deposit money or buy any cryptocurrency, you must set up your account security.
Sign Up: Go to the official Gate.io website or download the app. Register using your email address or phone number.
Complete Identity Verification (KYC):
Navigate to your profile icon and click Identity Verification.
Upload a valid government-issued ID (Passport, National ID, or Driving License).
Complete the facial recognition scan.
Note: KYC is mandatory on Gate.io to deposit, trade, and withdraw funds.
Set a Fund Password: Unlike your login password, Gate.io requires a separate "Fund Password" for trading and withdrawals. Set this up in your security settings.

Best for instant purchases using Visa or Mastercard.
Go to the homepage and select Buy Crypto > Credit/Debit Card.
Enter the amount of fiat currency you want to spend.
Choose the cryptocurrency you want to receive (Buying USDT first is highly recommended).
Select a third-party payment channel (like Simplex, Banxa, or MoonPay).
Enter your card details and complete the checkout. The crypto will arrive in your wallet in a few minutes.
Step 3: Trading USDT for Your Desired Coin (Spot Trading)
Once you have USDT in your Gate.io account, you can easily exchange it for any cryptocurrency you want.
Go to the top menu and click on Trade > Spot.
On the left side of the trading interface, use the search bar to find your target coin pair (e.g., BTC/USDT or PI/USDT).
Scroll down below the price chart to the Buy section.
