AMD Just Punched Me in the Face.. I Deserved It.
Let me tell you about my morning. I woke up made some tea opened my phone. And AMD had already decided that today was not my day. The price was at $500.84 at the start. It looked really good. It was the kind of number that makes you feel smart for holding onto AMD.
Then something changed.
The price went down to $480, then $471, $464 and finally $452.
All of this happened in one session. AMD erased $58 per share. It was like deleting a message from someone you do not want to talk to. It happened quickly. Without any explanation.
The price went down by 11.16%. I did not even finish my tea.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Let me look at the picture before I talk about my feelings
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Here is the thing that nobody talks about when AMD is going up. From $188 at the start of 2026 to $548 in a few months. That is a big jump. One hundred and seventy five percent. AMD is already a company worth hundreds of billions.
When I was watching AMD go from $300 to $400 I felt smart. When it crossed $500 I felt like calling my father and telling him that I finally know what I am doing with my life.
Today I did not call my father.
Because here is the truth about jumps. They do not end with a small correction. They end with a crash that leaves you staring at a big red candle wondering where things went wrong.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
What the chart is actually telling us
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Now I will stop feeling bad and start looking at the numbers. Because that is what we do.
The RSI is at 54.40. After an 11% crash. Think about that for a moment. AMD went down $58 in one session. The RSI did not even reach the oversold area. It is just sitting there at 54. Like someone who is not bothered.
This tells me that the jump from $188 to $548 was so big that todays crash has not changed the momentum indicators to a level where people want to buy again. The market is saying: we need more. Bad news. More time. More patience.
The MACD confirms this. The histogram is at -4.12. It is moving in the wrong direction. The signal line and MACD line. It is not looking good. The short term belongs to the people who are selling. That is not my opinion. That is what the chart is saying.
And this is important. AMD is still above the EMA50 at $386 and EMA200 at $264. The long term structure has not broken. Today is not the end of AMD. Today is the market taking back what it lent quickly.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
The levels I am watching now
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
$471 is now resistance. That is the BB midline. It changed from support to resistance when the price crashed through it today.
$452 was todays low. If that breaks tomorrow on volume the next stop is $395. The Bollinger Band lower band.. Below that EMA50 at $386.
If AMD loses $386 on a close I will be thinking about my decisions.
On the upside. If AMD takes back $471 holds it for two sessions. I start thinking about going back up toward $500. That is the minimum required for the bulls to regain any credibility here.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Am I buying this dip?
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
No.. I say this as someone who wants to buy this dip.
An 11% crash with RSI at 54 is not a buying signal. It is a warning. The people who buy here because it "feels cheap" compared to $548 are the people who will sell at $430 in a panic when it drops another $20.
My plan is simple. Wait for RSI to reach the 38 to 42 zone. Wait for the price to find the $395 to $410 support area. Watch for a candle confirmation. Something that says buyers showed up with intention. Then consider an entry with a stop below $380.
Until that happens I will watch.. Drink tea.. Not call my father.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
One thing
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
AMDs story has not changed. AI chips, data center demand, competition with Nvidia in the GPU space expanding software stack. None of that disappeared today. What disappeared was the optimism that had been priced in over five months of relentless buying.
The stock went from unloved at $188 to loved at $548. Today was the market finding a ground.
I have been tracking this journey through Gate Stocks. Real time data, USDT settlement, no separate brokerage needed. On a day like today when things move fast and emotions run high having everything in one interface keeps me from making decisions I would regret.
The opportunity, in AMD is not gone. It just got reset.
Now if you will excuse me I need to reheat my tea.
