I'm currently exploring different utility tokens and find it interesting how differently they function. Many people only think of Bitcoin and Ethereum, but there are many more projects solving real problems.
Ethereum remains, of course, the foundation – after the Pectra upgrade in May, things are running much better. Currently, one ETH costs about $2,280, but it has fallen slightly in recent weeks. Still, if you're involved with smart contracts and DeFi, you can't ignore ETH. It's simply the standard.
What fascinates me more right now are specialized utility tokens. For example, Ripple – XRP currently costs around $1.44 – was developed for international payments. This is not just speculation but has real banking partnerships. For me, this is a good example of how buying utility tokens can make sense if you understand the project behind them.
With Solana (currently around $94.71), I find it interesting that it is an extremely fast Layer-1 blockchain. Especially because new projects like Solaxy are building on it, the ecosystem is becoming more and more interesting. That’s a good sign for long-term viability.
Pi Network is a different approach – mobile-first crypto. The price is very low at $0.17, but the idea behind it is cool: making crypto accessible to ordinary people. Whether it works or not remains to be seen, but the concept is not bad.
Overall, I think when buying utility tokens, you should really ask: Does the project have a real use case? Are there active users? Or is it just hype? For example, Best Wallet or SUBBD – with such projects, you can at least question whether the functions they promise are actually useful.
The problem is that many of these tokens are in early phases. High staking APYs sound tempting, but they are often not sustainable. If you're considering whether to buy utility tokens, I would rather focus on established projects with real partnerships instead of new presales.
What do you think? Have you had experience with such tokens?
