So, I just saw this data from Arkham on Vitalik Buterin and honestly, it surprised me. The net worth of Ethereum's co-founder is estimated at around $833 million, an incredible figure considering it mainly comes from the initial token allocation during the launch in 2015.
The interesting thing is that Vitalik's wealth is almost entirely tied to ETH. He currently holds about 245,000 tokens, which at current prices are worth less than they were in 2021 when he nearly hit a billion. I remember when ETH surpassed $3,000 — for a moment, he was a paper billionaire.
What strikes me about Buterin's net worth is how it remains consistent with his statement of never wanting more than 0.9% of the total. Over time, his holdings have decreased both due to sales and network inflation, but he is still the largest individual holder of ETH. He has also diversified a bit with investments in StarkNet and other tokens like WETH and DEGEN.
Honestly, $833 million could also be a conservative estimate. Considering he might have undisclosed assets or non-crypto investments, the actual value could be higher. Anyway, the fact that Ethereum's co-founder remains mainly exposed to ETH says something about the trust he places in the project.
