Just read that Vitalik Buterin's estimated wealth according to Arkham is over $833 million. That's quite remarkable when you consider that the Ethereum co-founder still holds most of his massive ETH holdings from the time of Ethereum's launch in 2015.
What surprises me: He currently holds about 245,000 ETH, which at current prices is just under $600 million. In 2021, he was briefly a billionaire when ETH rose above $3,000. Today, with ETH at $2,410, that wealth is significantly lower but still impressive. Interestingly, Buterin has been steadily selling and diversifying his holdings over the years — he supposedly never holds more than 0.9% of the total ETH supply, indicating a deliberate strategy.
What’s special about Buterin’s wealth is that it’s not only tied up in ETH. He has also invested in projects like StarkNet and holds various other tokens. The report mentions that the $833 million is a conservative estimate — there could very well be undisclosed holdings. When you put it all together, his actual wealth could be significantly higher. Pretty wild that a single investor is so dominant in ETH distribution, isn’t it?
