Kelp DAO abandons LayerZero after the attack incident, switches to Chainlink cross-chain infrastructure
ME News message, May 6 (UTC+8), ME News message, May 6 (UTC+8), after suffering approximately $292 million in bridge attacks last month, Kelp DAO decided to abandon LayerZero and switch to Chainlink’s cross-chain infrastructure. Kelp DAO will use Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol, which requires 16 independent node operators to verify cross-chain transactions, becoming the first major protocol to leave LayerZero after the attack. During the attack, LayerZero-powered OFT bridging used a 1-of-1 single-validator configuration, and 47% of LayerZero applications at the time used the same configuration. LayerZero later announced that it would stop signing validator configurations. Kelp DAO said that migrating to Chainlink CCIP directly addresses the architectural vulnerability exposed in the attack. rsETH will also adopt the cross-chain token standard. As part of DeFi United’s rescue effort, LayerZero has donated and loaned approximately 10,000 ETH to Aave. (Source: ChainCatcher)
