Just checked the latest global asset rankings and it's wild how the top market cap assets stack up. Gold still dominates at around 17.7 trillion, but what caught my eye is where crypto sits in this broader picture. Bitcoin's currently trading with a market cap around 1.6 trillion, which puts it way ahead of most individual companies. Ethereum's sitting at roughly 285 billion now, still solid but you can really see the gap between BTC and everything else in the crypto space. The tech giants like Apple, Nvidia, and Microsoft are all in the 3+ trillion range, so they're still massive compared to most assets. What's interesting is how the top 30 by market cap is dominated by traditional powerhouses - big tech, oil, finance, pharma. But crypto's carved out its own space here, especially Bitcoin. If you look at it this way, BTC has basically become a macro asset class rather than just a speculative crypto play. The market cap comparison really puts things in perspective when you're thinking about where to position yourself across different asset classes.
