Recently came across an interesting topic: Japan's self-proclaimed time traveler from 2058, Rie Kokubun, has spoken again.
This guy previously predicted the gold medal count at the Tokyo Olympics, a sharp drop in the Nikkei index, and Shinzo Abe's resignation—all of which came true, earning him quite a few fans in online communities.
Rie Kokubun's new perspective has caught the attention of many crypto investors.
She said that at the end of 2019, she used her "father's account" to buy a large amount of Ethereum, about 1,400 coins, and buried them in her yard with plans to dig them up in 2058.
Interestingly, she chose Ethereum instead of Bitcoin, reasoning that she believes the application prospects of the Ethereum ecosystem could lead to higher gains.
But here’s a twist—Rie Kokubun said that according to her understanding of the 2058 situation, although Bitcoin will rise to 780 million yen (about $4.94 million), at that time "you can only sell, not buy."
She implied that in the future, there might be no new channels to acquire Bitcoin, or that Bitcoin's characteristics may no longer be suitable for trading.
Currently, Bitcoin is trading above $78K, and such remarks naturally make some investors wonder if there’s still room for growth.
Honestly, looking back at Kokubun's past predictions, she has indeed been quite accurate several times.
But some point out that her forecasts about economic downturns or political changes might just be based on the economic trends and political rumors at the time, combined with hindsight adjustments and luck.
Her wording also contains many ambiguities, making it easy to interpret her statements in various ways.
From an investment perspective, whether Kokubun is truly a future person or not, she has definitely reignited interest in the long-term potential of Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Ethereum is now trading around $2.3K, and if investors really want to follow her logic of "future value in the 2030s," they should first assess their risk tolerance.
Additionally, her statement that "Bitcoin can only be sold" has raised concerns about potential market speculation or panic selling.
Honestly, Kokubun's identity and predictions still carry a layer of mystery.
For some, it might be an interesting media topic; for believers, perhaps a prophetic guide.
But ultimately, investing still depends on one’s own judgment and risk management—whether or not you believe in time travel, you should stay rational.
There might really be a time traveler, or maybe this is just an exciting show.
We’ll just watch how it unfolds.
