Google's quantum computing technology poses a potential risk to Ethereum's security

ME News Report, April 12 (UTC+8), quantum algorithms have achieved a substantial improvement in attacking elliptic curves such as secp256k1. Although not yet sufficient to threaten the hash functions themselves in the short term, this poses potential risks to multiple layers including Ethereum account signatures, administrator privileges, precompiled contracts, consensus signatures, and data availability. Accounts with exposed public keys and systems relying on BLS or KZG are particularly vulnerable. While the post-quantum migration window has opened, caution should still be maintained regarding NIST-recommended schemes, especially lattice-based cryptography. (Source: MLion)
