Google's quantum computing technology poses a potential risk to Ethereum's security
ME News Report, April 12 (UTC+8), quantum algorithms have achieved a substantial improvement in the efficiency of attacking elliptic curves such as secp256k1. Although it is not yet sufficient to threaten the hash functions themselves in the short term, it has already posed potential risks to multiple layers including Ethereum account signatures, administrative permissions, pre-compiled contracts, consensus signatures, and data availability. Accounts with exposed public keys and systems relying on BLS or KZG are more vulnerable. The post-quantum migration window has opened, but caution should still be maintained regarding NIST-recommended schemes, especially lattice-based cryptography. (Source: MLion)
