Honestly, I do have some feelings about AVAX. I started seriously dealing with it at the end of 2023. Back then, SOL was crashing all the time. I saw someone in the Telegram✈️ group say, "Avalanche is almost stable and not lagging, give it a try." At that time, AVAX was just over $20. I bought a little and put it into the Core wallet, then added liquidity on Trader Joe to earn some yield. Gas fees were ridiculously low, confirming transactions with a single click felt really smooth, unlike ETH where each transaction costs a few dollars and makes you hesitate.
As I kept playing and learning, I found out how awesome this chain is with subnets—customizable side chains. There are tons of gaming projects like Off The Grid, Shrapnel, and I heard you can actually own assets when playing on PS5. I also downloaded a demo myself, and it ran pretty smoothly. DeFi is stable too, with LFJ, Benqi, and others, occasional yields are decent. RWA (Real World Assets) is even more impressive—California DMV has tokenized millions of dollars worth of vehicle ownership, institutions are working on tokenized assets. Avalanche has been targeting enterprises from the start, not a sudden idea. I personally feel it’s been planned for a long time...
Of course, I’ve been frustrated too. In 2024, it was down for a long time. While others doubled their holdings, it just stayed flat. I even thought about running away. The staking threshold of 2000 AVAX was too high for small investors. I delegated to others, earning 5-8%—steady but not for getting rich quick. Meme projects are lively too, like COQ chickens and such, short-term fun but easy to get wrecked. I tried once and lost badly, almost flying off the handle; otherwise, I wouldn’t be fixing screws.
Now, as of January 14, 2026, AVAX is hovering around $13-14. The modest increase is just like my name—haha. Market cap is around $6 billion, better than the end of last year but still not a breakout. I mostly hold long-term, not moving much. Why? Because it’s really landing—more and more subnets, continuous institutional cooperation. After Avalanche 9000 upgrade, building chains for RWA, gaming, and AI at scale will be easier. It’s right there. Not just slogans, but real development.
For me, AVAX isn’t a meme gamble. It’s a project I trust to use comfortably and hold steadily. If it really takes off, I’ll probably regret not holding more. If you’re also tired of high gas fees and want to try reliable DeFi or gaming, get a Core wallet and give it a shot—you’ll definitely notice the difference. Just treat it as a little lottery in life. $AVAX
