The trial of the $25 million Ethereum MEV case was declared invalid due to a deadlocked jury.
BlockBeats News, November 8th, according to Cointelegraph, the New York Federal Court declared a mistrial in the case against brothers Anton and James Peraire-Bueno due to the jury being unable to reach a unanimous verdict of guilty or not guilty. The two individuals were charged in connection with an Ethereum on-chain MEV attack in 2023, which earned approximately $25 million within about 12 seconds. Prosecutors claimed their actions constituted “bait and switch,” involving fraud and money laundering; the defense argued that such transactions were more akin to on-chain “front-running” game theory. The case lasted three weeks of trial before ending in a mistrial due to jury disagreement.
