Fed Minutes Turn Hawkish, But I Still Expect an October Pause — My Fed, CPI and BTC Trading View
The September Federal Reserve minutes have changed the tone of the market, but they have not changed my core view. The Fed is keeping the door open for another rate hike before the end of 2026, yet I do not think October is the most likely meeting for that move. My base case is an October pause followed by a higher probability of a December hike if inflation remains sticky. The important point is that I am not treating the Fed minutes as a sim

Samsung Electronics reported preliminary third-quarter operating profit of 107.4 trillion won, or roughly $80.1 billion, an increase of 782.5% from the same period a year earlier. It is the first time any South Korean company has surpassed 100 trillion won in quarterly operating profit, and the fourth consecutive record quarter for the world's largest memory chipmaker. Revenue came in at approximately 195 trillion won, up 126.59% year over year. The profit figure exceeded earlier brokerage estimates of around 101.7 trillion won, but the stock still closed at its session low the following day.

Samsung Electronics reported a preliminary third-quarter operating profit of 107.4 trillion won, or roughly $80.1 billion, an increase of 782.5% from the same period a year earlier. It is the first time a South Korean company has surpassed 100 trillion won in quarterly operating profit, and the fourth consecutive record quarter for the world's largest memory chipmaker. Revenue for the July-to-September period came in at approximately 195 trillion won, up 126.59% year over year.
The driver behind the surge is memory. Demand for high-bandwidth memory and server DRAM has outpaced supply as data centers powering artificial intelligence expand. Samsung's HBM bit shipments jumped nearly 50% quarter over quarter, and HBM4 revenue more than tripled from the previous quarter. The company's HBM market share rose from 21% in the first quarter to 33% in the second quarter, and its HBM4 chips are set to supply Nvidia's Vera Rubin AI accelerator in the second half of 2026. Analysts at SK Securities estimate the operating margin for Samsung's memory division reached 76% in the third quarter, unchanged from the prior quarter and among the highest levels the business has recorded.
The earnings beat expectations. The consensus estimate compiled from brokerage reports was around 105.4 trillion won for operating profit, and the actual figure came in above that mark. Samsung Securities, Meritz Securities, and KB Securities have set target prices for the stock at 400,000 won, while Hanwha Investment & Securities and SK Securities have targets as high as 580,000 won and 610,000 won respectively. Analysts at Meritz noted that DRAM prices are likely to rise further next year, and KB Securities projected that Samsung's HBM average selling price will more than double year over year in 2027, with HBM4 rising from 40% of total HBM revenue this year to 80% next year.
The market's reaction, however, did not match the strength of the earnings. The KOSPI closed 2.62% lower at 6,625.93, and Samsung shares fell about 1.5% after initially rising at the opening. The decline was attributed to a combination of factors, including the end of Samsung's share buyback program, the expiry of options, and a rebalancing of semiconductor exchange-traded funds. Foreign and institutional selling pressure weighed on the index despite the record results. The divergence between the earnings report and the stock price reflects the fact that the market had already priced in strong results, and investors were focused on what comes next rather than what had already been delivered.
The full earnings report, including divisional breakdowns and a conference call with management, is scheduled for October 29. That release will provide more detail on the memory business, the foundry division, and the company's outlook for the fourth quarter and beyond. For now, the preliminary figures confirm that the memory cycle is still expanding, driven by demand that has not yet shown signs of slowing. The question going forward is whether that demand remains strong enough to sustain the current pace of earnings growth, or whether the market's cautious reaction reflects concerns about the durability of the cycle.

$ERA The most unusual point today: up 12.91% over 24h, yet the funding rate plunged to -0.5821%, with the price above the Bollinger middle band while shorts are still paying to hold positions—this “rising price, negative funding” divergence usually indicates forced short squeezing rather than spot buying pressure.
Technical breakdown: MA5=0.07094 remains above MA20=0.065485, so the moving-average structure remains intact, but the current price of 0.0682 has fallen back below MA5, indicating weakening short-term momentum. The MACD histogram at +0.0005368 continues to favor bulls, but the bar i

Initial jobless claims data is out, gold prices pull back and build momentum, awaiting a rebound
On the one-hour chart, the price held key support after a pullback, with the lower Bollinger Band providing effective support. The RSI is recovering upward from low levels, bearish momentum is weakening, and bulls are showing signs of gradually fighting back. The previous low has formed a strong support zone, and the short-term consolidation is a pullback and momentum-building phase, accumulating strength for a subsequent move higher.

Prices have hit new lows again, leaving many wondering why the sell-off has been so fierce, with no meaningful rebound. Below is a clear breakdown of the core reasons behind this rapid decline, along with the key points to watch in the current market to avoid market traps.
Four core triggers behind this rapid sell-off:

🔥 US OPTICAL COMMUNICATION STOCKS CLOSE LOWER — PROFIT-TAKING, AI INFRASTRUCTURE AND THE NEXT MOVE
The U.S. optical communication and photonics space finished the latest completed trading session under pressure, with several important names closing below their previous levels.
But is this simply a normal pullback after a powerful rally, or is the market beginning to price in deeper weakness?
That is the key question for investors and traders.
For this analysis, I am using the latest completed U.S. session, October 7, 2026. The October 8 session had not

Gate has partnered with Visa to launch a crypto-linked payment card that will be available across more than 40 countries and territories, connecting digital assets held in Gate accounts to Visa's global payment network. The announcement was made on October 8, 2026, and the card is expected to roll out across those markets in the coming period.
The mechanics of the card are straightforward. When a user makes a purchase, eligible digital assets held in their Gate account are automatically converted into fiat currency at the point of sale. That conversion happens in the background, so the user do
