SanDisk really got hammered this time. It was still around 1900 at the end of September, then plunged straight to 1276 in just 5 days last week, closing Friday at 1299.
The reason is not complicated. The entire chip sector fell last week, marking its worst week since March. On top of that, new developments from ChangXin emerged, and spot memory prices were also sliding, raising market concerns that memory products would be harder to sell at a good price going forward. As big-money investors fled, leveraged longs who chased the rally were all liquidated, and the 1600 level was broken in one go.
