10.16 Friday strategy review (reposted)
The market sharply reversed downward yesterday. I stayed up late watching the charts, so I’m posting today’s review now. I had already said to prioritize the short strategy.

The Nasdaq 100 fell 5.5% this week, its worst week in a year and a half.
Bitcoin, meanwhile, is down just over 1% for the week, now at $81,500.
A few days ago, I said Bitcoin was being sold off along with tech stocks. Looking at the longer view this week, it actually held up better than tech stocks.
The key is what exactly the US stock market is afraid of this time.
This time, it’s not that AI is failing—it’s that AI has borrowed too much.

The bear market lasted 260 days.
This surge from 60 to 85k means we're now in recovery phase.
However, as always, the market is slow. There is no crazy bull run coming, there is no magic institutional money coming.
Everything takes time and will take time. And usually, bull phases last longer than bear phases.
Now I'm not surprised if we liquidate early longs with another move below 70-75k and then get the real jump past 100k in 2027.

$NEAR INTENTS VOLUME IS ONLY THE START OF THE TOKEN STORY
The number I care about comes after the swap: how much revenue does the protocol retain?
Intents fees are shared with ecosystem participants. Revenue-share payouts are denominated in $NEAR, and product revenue has already funded token buybacks.
That creates a connection between usage and the token, but gross trading volume alone doesn’t tell us how strong it is.
My focus is retained revenue, actual buybacks and their size relative to new issuance.
For $NEAR, growing usage becomes more compelling when the economics grow alongside it.
