The US Treasury just stepped in to calm the bond market.
After the 30Y Treasury yield hit 5.337% — its highest since 2007 — the Treasury doubled the size of its long-duration bond buyback operations. That immediately pulled the 30Y back toward 5.19% and the 10Y toward 4.64%. (Reuters)
Global equities responded fast.
MSCI Asia-Pacific ex-Japan is up roughly 2%, Japan’s Nikkei +1.4%, Nasdaq futures +0.4% and S&P futures +0.15%. (Reuters)
