BNB Chain releases BAP-578 standard, introducing the concept of Non-Fungible Agent (NFA)

Odaily Planet Daily reports that the BNB Chain development team stated that as the ecosystem continues to expand, applications need to share rules to enable seamless collaboration. To this end, BNB Chain has launched the BAP (BNB Application Proposal) mechanism, allowing developers to reach consensus on application layer standards such as NFT utility, AI agent behavior, and identity norms without touching the consensus layer or EVM. The team also introduced the first proposal, BAP-578, which is the Non-Fungible Agent (NFA) token standard. This standard proposes that NFA is an AI-driven, on-chain asset that can operate autonomously and has the capabilities of wallet holding, executing transactions, recording behavioral history, and functioning across multiple dApps. BAP-578 is regarded as one of the foundational infrastructures of the "agent economy," aimed at promoting AI agents to flow and collaborate within the BNB Chain ecosystem according to unified standards. BNB Chain pointed out that BAP is designed to be community-driven, allowing developers to participate in reviewing BAP-578, provide feedback, or submit new BAP proposals to jointly shape the application layer standard system.

BNB Chain launches BAP standard to unify the application layer and improve development efficiency

Odaily Planet Daily reports that the BNB Chain developer team issued a statement stating that the goal of BAP (BNB Application Proposals) is to make the application layer more consistent, enhance interoperability, and lower the development threshold. By sharing standards, the ecosystem can achieve faster development speeds, simpler integration methods, a better developer experience, and reduce one-time implementations. According to the official introduction, BAP can cover existing token standard extensions, identity and wallet specifications, off-chain data conventions, dApp/agent/protocol interfaces, and best practices for BNB Chain smart contracts. BAP will follow the process defined by BEP-1, including idea discussion, draft submission, community and editorial review, and ultimately be adopted as an official standard.

Recently, I noticed a quite interesting phenomenon—despite the less optimistic environment in the crypto market, on-chain AI agent infrastructure is booming across major public chains. Solana, with its sub-second confirmation times and low fees, has become the preferred platform for AI agent execution. They have launched the AI Agent Registry hosting layer on the mainnet, integrating identity verification, with over 9,000 agent deployments within the ecosystem. Framework projects like SendAI's Solana Agent Kit, ElizaOS, and Rig are rapidly iterating, and ecosystem participation is quite high. However, I think the most noteworthy development is on the Base chain side. Benefiting from the launch of the x402 protocol, Base chain has become one of the most mature and active ecosystems for AI agents. Various agent applications based on Openclaw are already taking shape, ranging from autonomous trading and DeFi management to social forums and prediction markets. You will find that the AI economy on Base chain is gradually forming, and this model might serve as a learning example for other chains. On BSC, they are taking a different approach—focusing more on standardization and official promotion. They accelerated infrastructure development in early 2026, launching protocols like ERC-8004 and BAP-578 to support low-cost, high-frequency activities. The ecosystem already includes 58 projects across 10 major categories, attracting over 200 developers. In early April, Four.Meme announced the launch of a new AI agent product called "Agentic Mode," aiming to explore native Meme forms of agents, which is quite an innovative idea. To summarize each chain’s strategy—Solana emphasizes performance and transaction efficiency, Base chain focuses on community and economic integration, and BSC leans toward official promotion and standardization. AI agents have shifted from pure concept to real on-chain activity, with autonomous trading, inter-hiring, and payments actually happening. Given the current development pace, on-chain AI is likely to see a wave of explosion by 2026, making this track worth continuous attention.

I just realized that AI Agent infrastructure on the blockchain has developed very rapidly across the three main ecosystems. Although the market is still in a bear condition, progress in this sector doesn't stop. Solana has become the main choice for AI Agent execution layer due to its sub-second speed, low costs, and high throughput—perfect for high-frequency microtransactions and automated operations. They launched the AI Agent Registry on mainnet in early March with native authentication integration. Deployment of agents on Solana has exceeded 9,000, focusing on payment x402, MCP servers, and Claw tools. Projects like Solana Agent Kit from SendAI, ElizaOS, and Rig have become popular frameworks in the ecosystem. Base chain attracts my attention because of its x402 protocol, which serves as the backbone of the agent economy there. This protocol was launched last year and is now very mature as an AI Agent ecosystem. Derivative applications from Openclaw such as automated trading, DeFi management, social apps ( similar to Reddit forums for agents called Moltbook), and prediction markets are starting to develop on this base chain. Meanwhile, BSC is also not lagging—since the beginning of this year, they have been pushing AI Agent infrastructure with protocols like ERC-8004 and BAP-578, which are already live on mainnet and testnet. The AI Agent ecosystem on BSC has grown to 58 projects across 10 main categories, attracting over 200 developers at the hackathon. Four.Meme even announced a new AI Agent product called "Agentic Mode" in early March to explore native Agent Meme forms. What’s interesting is that each ecosystem has a different focus: Base chain emphasizes community and economicization, Solana focuses on performance and transactional speed, while BSC tends toward standardization and official push. AI Agents have moved from concept to real activity on the blockchain—automated trading, hiring mechanisms, payments—all are operational. I predict AI on the blockchain will boom this year.
