Both major memory-chip giants rose, with SK hynix (SKHY) up nearly 2%, and Samsung Electronics up nearly 3%. As of the time of writing, the Nikkei 225 index was up 0.50%, and the South Korea composite index was up 0.56%.

JUST IN: Changxin Technology surged on ahead of its official listing, briefly breaking $7 with ~9% hour-to-date gains. Could signal strong near-term retail interest ahead of the listing. $CHX
