Today, the stock markets in Japan and South Korea opened higher. South Korea’s composite index opened up 1.7%, to 6,806.27 points; Japan’s Nikkei 225 index opened up 0.86%, to 65,164.98 points. Both major memory-chip giants rose, with SK hynix (SKHY) up nearly 2%, and Samsung Electronics up nearly 3%. As of the time of writing, the Nikkei 225 index was up 0.50%, and the South Korea composite index was up 0.56%.
