Getting the direction wrong loses you money; getting your position size wrong can wipe you out. The severity of these two things differs by an order of magnitude.
① Decide how much you can lose first, then calculate your position size
The order is always: first figure out the maximum amount you can lose on this trade, then work backward to determine your position size.
Don't first think, “How many U do I want to trade?” and then pray you don't lose.
