SEC Clarifies Crypto Token Classification - Five Bucket Framework Is Here
On March 17 2026, SEC and CFTC released a 68 page joint interpretation that finally sorts crypto assets into a clear taxonomy and tells when federal securities laws apply. Press release 2026-30 marked the shift. Rule took effect March 23 2026.
Five Buckets - What SEC Said
Interpretation creates five categories based on traits, use and function:
1. Digital commodities - like Bitcoin style assets with decentralized supply, used as value or fuel. Not a security.
2. Digital collectib

If you asked me which coins lead crypto.
I’d say Bitcoin and Ethereum without thinking.
But the mindshare ranking says otherwise.
$SOL takes about 14% of the attention, which is more than double $BTC and over 3x $ETH .
Size and attention don’t always point at the same coin.

My recent trades have indeed been poor! I got the direction right on 80% of my entries, but didn’t hold on to any of them!
My mindset has become a problem!
Tonight, I’ll review and review again. The only solution is to accept risk reasonably so I can aim for the corresponding profits!

Been watching $BTC all day and this area around 77k is interesting. We came down hard from 87k but price is still sitting above the 99 MA.
Not rushing anything yet, but if we can hold this zone and start pushing back over 78k, I think there’s a decent chance we get a bounce from here.
I’m not fully long yet. Just waiting to see if buyers actually step in. If we lose 76.5k cleanly then I’ll probably step aside.
Anyone else watching this level or am I overthinking it?
