ETH has cleared 2,500 for the first time in months.
Price is currently trading near 2,500.28 after a 2.57 percent gain in the last 24 hours. The daily chart shows a powerful impulsive advance that has lifted the short moving average to 2,311 and left the 50-period average far below at 1,950. The upper Bollinger Band sits at 2,597. RSI has reached 80.32 and volume expanded on the breakout. MACD remains firmly positive.
Two concrete flows are driving the move. US spot ETH ETFs recorded more than 500 million dollars in net inflows over a four-day stretch, creating a steady source of passive buying. At the same time roughly 1.69 billion dollars in short positions were liquidated across three days, adding forced covering on top of the ETF demand. The combination of structural inflows and short covering produced the clean break through 2,500.
Bullish continuation depends on whether 2,500 is accepted as a new floor. If daily closes remain above this level and the short-term structure holds, the next technical reference becomes the upper Bollinger region near 2,600. The presence of consistent ETF buying increases the probability that dips will continue to attract demand rather than accelerate lower.
Pullback scenario cannot be ignored after a daily RSI above 80. Moves of this speed often require digestion. A retest of the rising short average near 2,300, or even the mid-2,200s, would be a normal technical response and would not automatically cancel the larger advance. The market will need to show that real demand still exists once the forced short covering is complete.
I treat the dual catalysts as meaningful. Persistent ETF inflows are a different quality of buying than short-term speculation, and the liquidation data confirms that leveraged opposition has been reduced. At the same time the daily RSI leaves limited room for aggressive new longs at current prices. The practical focus now is how price behaves on the first meaningful retest of 2,500. Acceptance turns it into support. Rejection opens the door for a deeper reset.
