A report in March 2023 revealed that Kanye West's estimated total net worth was $2.36 billion, with Crypto investments worth about $30 million, including BTC and ETH; Non-fungible Token investments worth about $10 million, including his own series of Non-fungible Tokens, digital artworks, and other Non-fungible Tokens.
Coinye Token
In 2014, a cryptocurrency called Coinye was launched with Kanye West as inspiration, featuring a cartoon image of Kanye West combined with a fish body. The project had no affiliation with Kanye West and his team, and later received cease and desist letters through legal means, ultimately leading to the project development team abandoning it. The official Coinye website was later replaced with a statement saying "Coinye is dead. You win, Kanye."
Once publicly supported BTC
In October 2020, Kanye West expressed a positive view of Bitcoin and the cryptocurrency community on Joe Rogan's podcast, mentioning that the 'geniuses' in the Bitcoin community have a unique perspective on the 'true liberation of America and humanity'.
Yeezus and the potential association with Non-fungible Tokens
Kanye West explicitly stated in 2022 that he would not participate in Non-fungible Token, but later applied for 17 trademarks including Non-fungible Token for the Yeezus brand.
Recent coin issuance "warning"
In early February 2025, Kanye West revealed that he turned down a $2 million crypto scam promotion proposal involving promoting a fake 'ye currency.' However, all of Kanye West's posts were recently cleared, and there are reports of a $17 million account sale, as well as plans to launch the YZY token as the official currency of the Yeezy brand, with 70% reserved for Kanye West.
