Google launches a new tool to remove personal information from search results
Google has launched a new tool that allows users to delete personal phone numbers, email addresses, and home addresses on the search page. With just a few simple steps, users can submit a request to delete their personal information, which Google will review to determine if it meets the deletion criteria. The tool deletes personal data that users do not want to appear in Google search results. It can remove personal information from Google search, but it does not include deleting information from the entire internet or specific websites. It simply won’t appear in Google search results. This feature is currently in beta testing.
The following are the steps to remove your phone number, email address, and address from Google:
Search for your name on Google, then click the three vertical dots next to the website that contains the information you want to delete.
Click on ‘Delete results’ in the upper right corner. Users have five options to choose from for deletion, including phone numbers, emails, and Address. You can choose the option ‘Request removal because search shows my personal contact information’ and click on the arrow next to the field for other options. Once everything is completed, click ‘Finish’ to submit. Google will review it for several days and notify you of the review results by email.
In addition, users can go to the ‘Data & Privacy’ option in their Google account to check the audit status, and they can also request Google to delete personal data through the direct feedback feature. This feature can be used for more personal data deletion requests, such as social security card numbers and bank account numbers.
