This article will take you through the new protocol for the recent Bitcoin asset issuance
I. Rune Alpha
The reason why Rune Alpha has been able to become popular is mainly due to the concept of “runes”, which has been highly discussed recently. The concept and origin of “runes” have been introduced in previous tweets, so here is a brief introduction.
The concept of “Runes” was originally proposed by Casey and has gained renewed attention due to the opposition to “Inscriptions” by Luke, the core developer of BTC Core. One essential difference between “runes” and “inscriptions” is that “runes” are stored in UTXOs, while “inscriptions” such as Ordinals-based BRC-20 are JSON text that exists in SegWit data for Bitcoin Script.
Although the Rune Alpha we want to introduce here claims to be a “rune”, according to the Rune Alpha White Paper, it is a new inscription protocol based on version 0.11.1 of the ordinals protocol, which is not the same as the “rune” proposed by Casey. So Rune Alpha isn’t actually a “rune”, it’s just a “rune” in its name.
However, it doesn’t matter if it’s a real “rune” or not, Rune Alpha has successfully gained popularity, and you can be famous in the Crypto Community, but you definitely can’t be famous. II. CBRC-20
CBRC-20 is an efficient meta-protocol standard proposal developed by Ordinals for fungible tokens on Bitcoin. By leveraging the new metadata and metaprotocol fields introduced in ord 0.10+, which allow arbitrary attributes to be stored directly inside the Inion envelope, CBRC-20 maintains the same functional logic of the BRC-20 metaprotocol while drop the cost per inscription and simplifies the indexing process.
Since the CBRC-20 is an upgraded version of the BRC-20, what optimizations did he achieve?
Deploying, minting, or transferring any CBRC-20 Token can be done simply by inscribed the number “0” on the Token. As a text file, the cost of inscriptions is dropped by a factor of 10 compared to other meta-protocol ordinal Token standards.
CBRC-20 provides an easy way to index CBRC-20 meta-protocol status, as all information is available directly in the envelope of each inscription.
The CBRC-20 standard allows the use of any MIME data to deploy, mint, or transfer CBRC-20 Tokens. Example: Giving instructions to a Token simply by filling in “0” is 10 times drop more expensive as text content than other Ordinals meta-protocols.
Unlike the BRC-20, which is limited to Ordinals version 0.9 features, CBRC-20 can take advantage of the latest features introduced in Ordinals version 0.10 and later.

In addition to the above two trading markets, the community spontaneously made a trading market for CBRC-20 Tokens, and attached CBRC-20 Tokens to BRC-20 Tokens, carrying out a similar “Trojan Horse” method to launch CBRC-20 Tokens on Unisat, but the method is experimental in nature and has no guarantee for the safety of assets.
Recently, the founders started an OSMOSIS experiment and deployed the first meta-protocol inscription $SYMM. What do you mean by “meta-protocol” and “cross-indexing”?
“Meta-protocol” is a term used by the Ordinals community to describe an interoperable “protocol.” Formalized through off-chain indexing of on-chain information (e.g., BRC-20, SNS, Bitmap, etc.).
Due to the non-overlapping nature of the two BRC/CBRC meta-protocols, it is possible to complete the deployment/minting/transmission of the two meta-protocols at the same time. If the holder holds both, the $SYMM in the hand is “valid”. The picture below shows a 2-in-1 $SYMM inscription, and the left picture is an inscription.
At a glance, CBRC-20 is like a “Trojan horse”, using CBRC-20’s inscription method to engrave the inscriptions of multiple protocols at the same time, thus carrying out some degree of “Vampire Attack” on other protocols. Like the Trojan horse that the creators often tweeted, CBRC-20 achieved a “backdoor listing”.
III. BTNS
Broadcast Token Naming (BTNS, Broadcast Token Naming System) is one of the early holders and development members of the BTC @jdogresorg, building an ecosystem on the BTC main chain. The basic idea is to make it possible for BTC to release its own on-chain native asset tokens and Non-fungible Tokens by transmitting additional broadcast signals on the BTC chain, using records on the Blockchain as the basis for data, and using ledger indexing as a means.
BTNS-420 is @jdogresorg a Token protocol standard that integrates multiple ecological characteristics such as asset release and transfer built on top of BTNS, and the emergence of BTNS-420 makes the idea of BTNS possible.

According to the community, @jdogresorg is on vacation and has suspended development work, which is indeed the case at the moment judging by its Twitter update. Therefore, the market that should have been developed has not made progress so far.

The above is the recent introduction of the new Bitcoin protocol, in which Rune Alpha and CBRC-20 have not departed from the concept of inscriptions, both are based on an asset issuance method of Ordinals, but CBRC-20 has done a better job in innovation, making it possible to mint inscriptions of multiple protocols at the same time. BTNS is conceptually larger than these two, BTNS belongs to the category of meta-protocols, and Rune Alpha and CBRC-20 both belong to “layer 2 protocols (refers to standards or protocols developed based on the original protocol of Ordinals)”, and BTNS in the form of “broadcast” so that the asset issuance on Bitcoin no longer occupies Bitcoin (here is not to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of occupancy).
