Gate Card: How Digital Assets Can Enter Everyday Spending and Deliver Up to 8% Cashback Through a Points System

The value of digital assets lies not only in holding and trading them, but also in whether they can smoothly enter real-world consumption scenarios. From everyday shopping to online subscriptions, from cross-border payments to in-person spending, whether the digital assets in a user’s wallet can be directly used to pay has always been a core question the industry is exploring.

In 2025, annual stablecoin trading volume reached approximately 33 trillion USD, and the scale already exceeded the combined total transaction processing volume of Visa and Mastercard, at 25.5 trillion USD. In May 2026, the monthly cumulative transaction volume for crypto payment cards reached approximately 7.8 billion USD, up about 230% from the same period last year. Digital assets are gradually evolving from being a transaction medium on-chain into payment tools in the real world.

Against this backdrop, Gate Card—Gate’s digital-asset Visa card—is trying to answer a key question: can crypto assets truly become a payment tool that’s usable in daily life? And the Gate Card points system, officially launched on July 2, 2026, further extends this question: can spending behavior be converted into long-term value?

Gate Card: Connecting Digital Assets with Global Payment Networks

Gate Card is a digital asset Visa card that is directly linked to a Gate Pay payment account. It enables users to spend online or offline at more than 150 million Visa-accepting merchants worldwide. The card is available across more than 200 countries and regions and supports a wide range of spending scenarios, including online shopping, in-store retail, dining, and travel.

The biggest difference between Gate Card and traditional bank cards is that what it connects to behind the scenes is not a bank balance, but a digital asset account. After users hold assets such as USDT, BTC, ETH, or GT in their Gate Pay payment account, when they make a purchase, the system automatically completes two tasks at the moment the transaction occurs: first, it converts the user-selected digital assets into U.S. dollars at the real-time exchange rate, and then settles with the merchant through the Visa network. The entire process takes place within seconds—users only experience a normal card-swipe payment.

This design eliminates the intermediate steps of “sell coins first, withdraw later, then spend.” In the past, a single everyday purchase might require the following steps: transferring digital assets from a wallet to a trading account, selling them for fiat, withdrawing to a bank account, and then completing the purchase through a traditional bank card—this chain could take hours to days and involved multiple fee charges. Gate Card compresses this entire chain into one step.

At present, Gate Card supports four digital assets—USDT, BTC, ETH, and GT—used directly for payments. As a stablecoin, USDT is naturally well-suited to serve as a payment medium for everyday consumption. Bitcoin and Ethereum, the two largest cryptocurrencies by market value, meet users’ needs for long-term holding while also allowing users to spend directly when needed. GT, as Gate’s native asset, gives users more payment options within the ecosystem.

The card comes in two forms: virtual cards and physical cards. After identity verification is completed, virtual cards can typically be issued and ready for use within 3 to 5 minutes. They are suitable for online shopping and can also be linked to Apple Pay and Google Pay for offline payments. Physical cards support in-card chip payments, contactless payments, and ATM cash-withdrawal scenarios. Each user can apply for one virtual card and one physical card.

Both the Gate Card virtual card and physical card have no card issuance fee, monthly fee, or inactivity fee. Cryptocurrency exchange fees are charged at 0.90% for single transactions of 2 USD or more, and 0.05 USD for transactions below 2 USD. Foreign exchange fees for non-USD transactions are 0.40%.

Six-Tier Cashback System: Spending Becomes Rewards

On July 2, 2026, Gate officially launched the Gate Card points system. Built around three core capabilities—cashback from spending, points redemption, and tier progression—the new system allows users to continuously accumulate points during their spending, redeem digital assets, and unlock higher-tier benefits as their spending grows.

Gate Card establishes a six-tier cashback system from T0 to T5. Different tiers correspond to different points multipliers, cashback rates, monthly points limits, and monthly cashback caps.

| Card Tier | Points Multiplier / Cashback Rate | Monthly Points Cashback Cap | Monthly Equivalent Cashback Amount | Single-Transaction Points Cashback Cap | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | T0 | 1x / 1.00% | 500 points | up to 5U | 200 points | | T1 | 1x / 1.00% | 5,000 points | up to 50U | 1500 points | | T2 | 2x /2.00% | 10,000 points | up to 100U | 3000 points | | T3 | 3x /3.00% | 1,5000 points | up to 150U | 5000 points | | T4 | 5x /5.00% | 2,5000 points | up to 250U | 8000 points | | T5 | 8x /8.00% | 4,0000 points | up to 400U | 15000 points |

Eligible users can enjoy cashback of up to 8%. The points multiplier determines how many points a user earns per 1 USD spent—an 1x multiplier means that 1 USD spent earns 1 point.

Points Redemption Mechanism: A Conversion Channel from Spending to Digital Assets

Points redemption follows a fixed ratio: 100 points equals 1 USDT. For example, spending 100 USD earns 100 points, which can be redeemed for 1 USDT. Points currently support redemption into two digital assets: USDT and GT. After redemption, the assets will be issued to the specified account according to the user’s choice, making them convenient for subsequent trading, investing, or spending again.

Points remain valid long-term, with no expiration period.

Note that the following transaction types do not participate in points accumulation: fiat payments; non-spending transactions such as fees, management fees, top-ups, and withdrawals; orders that are canceled or refunded; and transactions involving specific merchant categories, including financial institution services, the purchase of stored-value cards, foreign currency exchange, bills of exchange, and traveler’s checks, among others.

Points redemption has a monthly cap, but this does not limit the actual number of points users can earn. Users can continue accumulating points, but each month they can only redeem cashback within the allowed redemption limit.

Tier Progression Mechanism: Dual-Track Value Accumulation

Gate Card’s tier progression uses a dual-track driving model, determined based on the user’s Gate VIP tier and the user’s monthly spending amount. The card tier, the corresponding cashback rate, and the monthly cashback cap will be determined based on either the user’s Gate VIP tier or the user’s card spending status for that month—whichever provides the higher tier of benefits. New tier benefits take effect in the next natural month and remain valid throughout that month.

A user’s initial tier is determined by their VIP tier at the time of application. VIP users at level 5 and above enjoy the points multiplier and cashback benefits directly based on their VIP tier, without needing to meet a monthly minimum spending requirement. Once users reach the corresponding spending threshold, they can automatically upgrade in the following month to enjoy higher-tier benefits, forming an incentive mechanism that combines spending, growth, and rewards.

How Spending Behavior Can Convert into Long-Term Value

Spending, earning points, redeeming rewards, increasing tiers, getting more cashback, and spending again—Gate Card’s points system creates a complete value cycle.

For users who spend frequently in daily life, each eligible spend accumulates points. These points do not expire, meaning users do not need to concentrate spending in the short term or rush to redeem. As spending accumulates, users can gradually raise their card tier—from T0 up to T5—while the cashback rate increases from 1% to 8% and the monthly cashback cap rises from 5 USD to 400 USD.

From the perspective of asset allocation, the USDT and GT obtained through points redemption can be stored in a Gate account. Users can choose to hold, trade, or use them again for spending according to their needs. This means that everyday spending itself can become one of the ways to accumulate digital assets.

Gate Card’s fund sources support free switching among Yu’ebao, Gate Pay, and spot balances. With Yu’ebao routing, the user’s balance can continue generating returns between purchases. This design ensures that the payment funds retain some earning ability even during idle periods.

Global Payment Scenarios and Exclusive Benefits

Relying on the Visa network, Gate Card can be used at about 150 million merchants worldwide. From buying at chain supermarkets to getting coffee at neighborhood cafés, from online shopping to in-store retail, and from dining and travel to hotel bookings, Gate Card can be used across these scenarios. The card supports binding to Apple Pay and Google Pay, further extending the convenience of offline payments.

Users who hold a physical Gate Card can avoid multiple layers of intermediary fees charged by traditional banks in travel scenarios.

Gate Card has partnered with Printemps Paris. Between July 10, 2026 and October 9, during the period, Gate Card users who meet the requirements and make their first visit to the Printemps Paris Haussmann flagship store in France can enjoy a 5% welcome shopping discount.

Conclusion

The Gate Card points system connects everyday spending behavior with digital asset accumulation. From a payment tool to spending cashback, from points redemption to tier progression, Gate Card is building a closed loop in which spending behavior continues to generate value.

Users do not need to change their daily spending habits. By simply using Gate Card to complete eligible payments, they can accumulate points and redeem digital assets at the same time as they spend, while automatically unlocking higher-tier cashback benefits as spending grows. Points remain valid long-term, redemption ratios are transparent, and the tier progression path is clear—these designs make every everyday purchase potentially the starting point for long-term value accumulation.

Gate Card continues to strengthen the digital asset spending ecosystem, making payments not only a matter of fund flow, but also an important entry point for continuously accumulating value. In the future, Gate will continue to promote deep integration between payments and the platform ecosystem, and expand the boundaries of digital asset applications in global real-world scenarios.
