Aztec releases V5 version, introducing a fully private trading execution environment for mobile devices

PANews July 21 news: According to The Block, Ethereum privacy project Aztec has rolled out the v5 upgrade (alpha) on its decentralized L2, providing a full private execution environment and supporting “client proofs,” allowing users to generate zero-knowledge proofs locally on their phones and regular laptops. The upgrade was approved through token governance and has already been executed on-chain. The official says that private transaction proof time has been cut by more than 2x, fees have dropped by about 50%, rollup proof verification costs on Ethereum have decreased by about 40%, fully private transfer fees per transaction are under $0.05, and block time has been reduced from 14 seconds to 6 seconds. Vitalik Buterin previously classified Aztec as an L2 “Stage 2” decentralized solution; currently, v5 supports earning privacy on Aave via Nyx and is bridged to Ethereum privacy through Shield and TRAIN.
