PANews July 18 reported that well-known crypto investor Cobie posted on X saying that a few days ago he took over products including the Base app and the Coinbase app, as well as Advanced trading, but he is not responsible for the Base chain. He admitted that Coinbase in the past was “a bit too high and mighty,” creating a distance from crypto-native users. He hopes to improve this situation through his own efforts, even if it’s difficult to completely resolve in the short term. Cobie acknowledged that Base and Coinbase have consumed a large amount of users’ goodwill due to some mistakes, but said that if he thought it would be impossible to improve, he would not take the role. He plans to roll out products that users like and will accept the outcome that he may be criticized as a result.

Earlier, Coinbase executive Jesse Pollak stepped down as head of the Base app, and Cobie took over.
