ME AI News: During the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference, China Telecom Chairman Ke Ruiwen said in a speech that the compute power under management of the “Yixang” compute platform has already exceeded 100 EFLOPS. China Telecom will build compute infrastructure in a moderately forward-looking way. It has already built more than 900 data centers, with total power capacity of nearly 8 GW, making it the largest AIDC service provider nationwide. It will increase planning and deployment of domestically produced compute power; strengthen the deployment of edge compute pools around key cities to enhance the single-node compute scale and service capability; and accelerate the development of an elastic, agile compute interconnection network. It will build the “new eight verticals and eight horizontals” backbone fiber-cable network, and speed up the evolution of transmission links toward 800G. It will deepen the rollout of gigabit optical networks and deploy 5G-A. It will explore building compute networks with ultra-large capacity and OCS fully-optical networking, supporting super-large-scale clusters and improving training and inference computing performance. It will continue to increase investment in subsea cable resources to provide a network foundation for international AI cooperation featuring “mutual backup across sea and land, coordinated integration inside and outside, and secure and reliable operations.” (Sci-Tech Innovation Board Daily) (Source: Eastmoney)
