What happens after being killed during sex?
Sudden cardiac death during intercourse refers to the core mechanism of unexpected death occurring during sexual activity. It is mainly driven by excessive activation of the sympathetic nervous system: neural excitation responsible for the fight-or-flight response and abrupt hemodynamic changes. When blood pressure and heart rate sharply fluctuate due to heightened excitement, large amounts of catecholamines (adrenaline-class hormones) are released, causing the heart rate—number of heartbeats per minute—to reach between 140 and 180 beats per minute. When the heart contracts, the highest blood pressure inside the arteries rises abruptly; heat is generated by muscle thermogenesis, raising the core body temperature by 0.5 to 1.5°C. The body then initiates skin blood vessel dilation: dilation of surface blood vessels for heat dissipation reduces the total blood volume returning to the heart sharply, thereby decreasing the blood pressure difference that provides the myocardium with oxygen via coronary perfusion pressure. In patients with concealed coronary artery disease or atherosclerotic coronary heart disease, this state very easily triggers ventricular fibrillation—ineffective, chaotic “flying” contractions of the heart—making it unable to pump blood, or leading to acute myocardial infarction. Acute occlusion of the coronary artery causes myocardial necrosis. In addition, heavy sweating can cause electrolyte imbalances: imbalance between blood potassium and blood, which affects the electrical activity of the myocardium, and in coordination triggers malignant arrhythmias due to abnormal cardiac electrical conduction. Forensic medicine, a medical branch used for legal determinations, classifies this as sudden death, “poverty claims,” and natural deaths of healthy individuals due to natural diseases that occur unexpectedly in the short term. Quality inspection: afterward, a physical examination must rule out trauma, mechanical injuries, and poisoning, including toxic substance ingestion.
