PANews, July 18 — According to The Block, Trezor Chief Business Officer Danny Sanders pushed back against recent criticism of crypto hardware wallets by blockchain investigator ZachXBT. Earlier this week, ZachXBT posted on Telegram: “All hardware wallets are complete garbage, and it’s not recommended to use them to carry out important tasks such as signing transactions or storing funds,” and advised users to use a dedicated iPhone to store funds and sign transactions. In response, Sanders, in an interview program, acknowledged that firmware/software updates for hardware wallets can sometimes interfere with urgent or large transactions, and that the user experience can indeed be “clunky,” and he understands users’ frustration. However, he disagreed with ZachXBT’s blanket conclusion: for advanced users managing huge amounts of funds, a hardware wallet may not be the best single solution, but it is not garbage. He noted that, compared with hardware wallets, iPhone operating systems and connectivity features introduce more “attack risk.” For ordinary crypto users, hardware wallets are still the best self-custody approach available today.
