I just saw people on Twitter talking about modular blockchains again. To be honest, I’m still thinking: for ordinary users like us, what exactly has it changed? The technical narrative sounds great—split execution, settlement, data availability… but honestly, when I open a DApp, I can’t feel whether the backend is monolithic or modular at all. It’s like ordering takeout: whether the kitchen is run by robots or a chef, I only care whether the food tastes good and whether it arrives fast.
But recently, those big on-chain transfers have been interpreted everywhere as “smart money” moves. I actually think this just shows one thing: if the underlying layer really has changed, people’s focus will eventually shift from “who transferred how much” to “is this application actually being used.” Modularization might not make things feel faster or cheaper, but it may make it easier for developers to build an app that genuinely works—one that doesn’t require me to go check Gas and TPS. Anyway, I’m still waiting for that day. For now, that’s it.
