Stripe and Advent propose to acquire PayPal for more than $53 billion
PANews July 15 news: Reuters reported that payment company Stripe, together with private equity firm Advent International, has made an acquisition offer to PayPal, priced at $60.50 per share. The offer values PayPal at over $53B, representing a premium of about 28% over PayPal’s Tuesday closing price. The bid was submitted earlier this month and has garnered about $50B in bank commitment financing support. Stripe and Advent had preliminary discussions in early April, and they have not yet received a response from PayPal. Both sides are seeking to reach an agreement by the end of this month. Under the proposal, Stripe and Advent would jointly hold PayPal, with a 50% stake each, rather than splitting the company.
