Golden Finance reports that on July 16, citing a July 15 update from the U.S., an internal assessment from the U.S. Department of Defense shows that the United States’ actual spending on military actions against Iran could be as high as $100 billion, far exceeding the roughly $30 billion the U.S. government had previously announced. It is understood that the huge gap between the two figures is mainly because the earlier official estimates did not include undisclosed combat expenditures, losses of advanced fighter aircraft, and the severe damage costs the U.S. incurred at military facilities in the Middle East. U.S. Senator Angus King said Americans are very disappointed that they cannot find out the real cost of the war, “not to mention the additional costs to the public from the conflict, such as higher gas prices.” (CCTV News)
