ME News, July 16 (UTC+8): Three sources said Iran has asked Yemen’s Houthi forces to prepare to shut down the Strait of Hormuz if the United States attacks Iran’s power infrastructure, which would pose a new major threat to global energy supply. It is understood that this idea has been discussed within Iran’s leadership and the information has been conveyed to Iran’s Houthi allies. The sources said the Houthis have learned of Tehran’s request in recent days. The sources provided no further details on how the request was communicated, nor did they say whether it was raised after President Trump threatened on Tuesday to attack Iran’s power infrastructure.
