ME News, April 26 (UTC+8): In a press conference held locally on April 25, U.S. President Donald Trump, while answering reporters’ questions, said that the sudden incident during the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner that day was “completely shocking.” He said he heard a noise, but thought it was a tray dropping to the floor. “I was observing the situation at the time,” he said, “but my wife moved out of the way even faster, and it seemed she quickly realized what was happening.” Trump said he hoped to continue holding the dinner and promised to reschedule it as soon as possible. Trump said that before the dinner, he had received no briefings about any threats. He also mentioned a previous assassination attempt against him and urged the American public to “resolve each other’s differences.” He added that people from both parties condemned the incident that evening. Trump also thanked media personnel, saying the media “has shown a very responsible attitude in its reporting.” (Source: CCTV International News)
