ME News, July 16 (UTC+8): South Korean newspaper Maeil Business News, citing an interview with Ko Dong-sin, chairman of the Korea-US Semiconductor joint venture, reported that, given the expected supply shortage of AI semiconductor equipment starting next year, Korea-US Semiconductor is considering building its eighth production plant. After the new facility is completed, it will become the company’s largest plant site. Ko Dong-sin expects that semiconductor equipment demand will exceed supply starting next year. The planned eighth plant is located next to the seventh plant currently under construction in Incheon. Korea-US Semiconductor said that as global chipmakers expand investment, market demand for its thermo-compression bonding machines and hybrid bonding machines will grow rapidly. The company plans to set up a Korea-US Semiconductor America subsidiary in San Jose, California by the end of 2026 to strengthen technical support services. (Source: BlockBeats)
