ME News: On July 15 (UTC+8), payments company Stripe and private equity firm Advent International jointly made a takeover offer to PayPal, offering $60.50 per share, valuing the deal at over $53 billion, representing a premium of about 28% over PayPal’s Tuesday closing price. The offer was submitted earlier this month and secured approximately $50 billion in bank commitment financing support. Stripe and Advent had preliminary discussions in early April, and have yet to receive a response from PayPal; both sides are seeking to reach an agreement by the end of this month. Under the proposal, Stripe and Advent would jointly hold PayPal, each with 50% equity, rather than splitting the company. (Source: ODAILY)
