Cointelegraph news: Is cross-chain technology the missing link for mainstream DeFi adoption? One of the biggest problems facing the crypto industry is liquidity—users are spread across multiple blockchains. Cross-chain solutions aim to address this by enabling assets and data to move between ecosystems such as Ethereum, Solana, BNB Chain, and Polygon. Supporters believe this could accelerate the adoption of DeFi and NFTs, while critics point to bridge hacks and security risks.

Liquidity fragmentation is definitely a headache, but outsourcing security to bridge protocols feels like dancing on the edge of a blade. Isn’t native interoperability the ultimate answer?

To be honest, using cross-chain bridges makes my stomach turn. The big cases from last year are still fresh in my mind.

I actually think cross-chain isn’t a missing piece, but over-engineering. What users want is a seamless experience, not caring which chain the assets are on. Abstracting these at the protocol layer is the real solution.

There are too many bridges, and there are too many hackers.
