OpenAI and prediction market platform Kalshi partner up, and ChatGPT begins integrating World Cup odds data

Abstract generation in progress
According to The New York Times, OpenAI has reached a partnership with prediction market platform Kalshi to display World Cup-related odds data in ChatGPT search results. This is OpenAI’s first collaboration with a prediction market platform. When users ask ChatGPT questions about World Cup matches, the system will show win-rate forecasts provided by Kalshi and clearly label the data source. Previously, Kalshi had also formed similar data-integration partnerships with platforms such as CNN, CNBC, and Google, while its competitor Polymarket previously signed a data-integration agreement with a Dow Jones product. Although OpenAI’s support page stresses that the feature is only for “information reference” and that users cannot place bets directly through ChatGPT, as regulatory concerns have intensified over prediction markets—driven by wagers tied to geopolitics and corporate news—such integrations have sparked industry debate about the risk of sensitive information leaks and insider trading.

CNN, CNBC, and Google have all signed on, and Kalshi is rolling out pretty fast—so OpenAI might be the icing on the cake.

Did ChatGPT become a prophet? But at least it labels the source—better than some platforms; it at least knows where the data comes from.

Show only, don’t trade. OpenAI is probing right at the edge of the red line, gauging the situation before deciding the next move.

Betting on geopolitics is too risky—if the platform dares to take it, regulators will inevitably come knocking sooner or later.

OpenAI’s move here is pretty interesting—predicting market data for you to trade on, but you can only watch and not bet. Is this a compliant trial run?
