💸 Anthropic accidentally sent an invoice of… $16.6 million to a user of the free version.
A South Korean user was surprised to receive an invoice for $16.6 million from Anthropic while he was only using the free version of Claude and had never used the API. Even more astonishing, the bill showed $1.67 million the day before, before being multiplied by ten in a single night.
At first, he thought it was a phishing attempt, but he ultimately found that the email and the payment link did indeed come from Anthropic’s official domain. Fortunately, no charge was made: his bank automatically blocked the transaction due to the unusual amount.
