Deepwater TechFlow message: On July 14, according to The Block, the number of tweets about Bitcoin and Ethereum on X (Twitter) has fallen to a nearly 12-month low. Bitcoin-related mentions are about 130,000, while Ethereum is about 40,000—roughly comparable to the level seen in 2020, when institutions had not yet entered the market at scale.

What’s worth noting is that tweet volume is often viewed as a rough indicator of retail investor attention. Current data shows that retail-side social buzz has fallen back to pre-institutional-era levels in 2020. At the same time, institutional participation is moving in the opposite direction—tokenization has become a hot topic at major financial conferences and in traditional financial media.

Analysts point out that historically, low tweet volume often coincides with periods of price stagnation or downturn. However, others believe that as institutional infrastructure continues to improve, the crypto market’s price movements may no longer be driven by the kind of large-scale public attention they relied on in the past.
