Apple’s lawsuit against OpenAI just dropped and it’s pretty insane.

Here’s the tldr;
~ OpenAI’s hardware chief Tang Tan (24 years at Apple) told candidates still working at Apple to bring ‘actual parts’ to job interviews. Batteries, logic boards, basically ‘show and tell’
~ Tan used Apple’s secret internal codenames in interviews to pull more information out of candidates
~ OpenAI coached departing Apple employees on how to slip past Apple security on the way out
~ Engineer Chang Liu kept his Apple laptop after quitting, found a bug that still let him into Apple’s cloud storage, and downloaded dozens of confidential files while building OpenAI’s device
~ His message to an ex colleague: “LOL, I found out I can access the network storage, so funny”
~ OpenAI got one of Apple’s suppliers to demo a trade secret metal finishing technique by claiming Apple had approved it
~ Apple contacted OpenAI about all this in February but OpenAI never replied
400+ former Apple employees now work at OpenAI. The device this was allegedly stolen for is supposed to launch this year.
Apple says that OpenAI’s hardware business is rotten to its core.
Sam is trying to IPO into this.
