The AI Battle Has Shifted – It's No Longer Just About Better Models The latest announcement from OpenAI had my attention for a single reason: it wasn't the launch of a new model. It was the simplification of existing products. Taking away the 5 hour limit for Codex and ChatGPT Work temporarily signaled to me that the competition within AI is shifting.

Just a few months ago, everybody was asking "Which AI model is smarter?"

Now the question is evolving into "Which platform offers a better experience to the user?" This is a massive shift. Given that millions of people utilize AI services every single day, usage limitations, pricing and accessibility issues have become just as critical as any performance metrics on benchmark tests. Developers, creators and enterprises that feel inhibited are likely to explore alternatives, because loyalty has not yet been firmly established in the AI arena.

The interesting thing here is the timing.

Competition between OpenAI and Anthropic has intensified, and both appear to be reacting to user feedback much more rapidly than they previously did. This is excellent news for the AI-consuming public, since more competition often translates into better products, greater access and lower costs over time. As an investor, this announcement also indicates the broader direction of the tech industry.

In today's world, access to computing power has emerged as one of the most crucial elements in technology. Companies are now not only competing with one another on the basis of algorithms, but also with hardware like GPUs, infrastructure, and the capability to cater to millions of users without encountering significant performance degradation. From my perspective, the ultimate winners will likely be those that successfully balance factors such as model performance, reliability, cost, and user-friendliness, rather than solely the companies that develop the most advanced algorithms.

This is quickly evolving into more of a marathon than a sprint.

There is one certainty: the competition is intensifying, and each action taken by one industry player necessitates a reaction from the others, ultimately fueling accelerated innovation for the entire field.

Who do you think will eventually lead the race?

Better technology or user experience and affordability?
