#AnthropicSecondaryValuationHits1.2Trillion

Everyone Wants Anthropic-But Is Scarcity Becoming Part of the Valuation?

The AI race just reached another unbelievable milestone. Anthropic's reported $1.2 trillion secondary market valuation isn't just making headlines because of the number-it's because demand appears to be far greater than the available supply of shares.

When investors are competing this aggressively for private equity, it tells me one thing: the market believes AI is still in the early innings.

What's fascinating is that the valuation story isn't being driven only by financial results. Scarcity is playing a huge role. If very few shareholders are willing to sell, buyers naturally become more aggressive, and prices can climb much faster than they would in a more liquid market. That's exciting, but it's also something I approach carefully.

History has shown that revolutionary companies can absolutely justify massive valuations over time.

But history has also shown that when expectations become too optimistic, even great businesses can struggle to satisfy investors. The challenge isn't proving that AI will grow-it's proving that future growth is already worth today's price. I think this also says something bigger about where global capital is flowing.

Money is no longer chasing only software companies. It's pouring into the entire AI ecosystem-from model developers and chip manufacturers to cloud infrastructure and data centers. Investors want exposure before these businesses become fully accessible through public markets.

Personally, I'm still very bullish on artificial intelligence as a long-term trend.

But I'm equally bullish on patience. The best opportunities don't always come from buying into peak excitement. Sometimes they come when expectations cool and fundamentals continue improving. If Anthropic eventually lists on the public market, it could become one of the biggest IPOs the tech world has ever seen.

Until then, every new valuation headline will keep fueling the debate about how much the future of AI is really worth.

Do you think trillion-dollar AI valuations are justified by the technology's long-term potential, or is the market starting to get ahead of itself?
