AIMPACT message. On April 25 (UTC+8), Base co-founder Jesse Pollak said in an interview that AI Agents are rapidly gaining autonomy and need native, programmable payment systems, which will drive the agent economy. The open-source x402 payment protocol is one of the key pieces of infrastructure, enabling AI Agents to make global instant, low-cost payments via a single API call or smart contract call. So far, x402 has generated about $48 million in payment volume, with around 95% occurring on the Base network. (Source: Foresight News)
