According to a report by Cambridge, after Ethereum’s Merge, electricity usage fell by more than 99.9%. Cambridge estimates that Ethereum uses 7.87 GWh of electricity per year, and its energy intensity ranks as the second-lowest among the main Proof-of-Stake chains when calculated by market value.

What does 7.87 GWh mean? Roughly about the same as a few thousand households. Back in the PoW days, it was basically on the scale of a small nation.
