AIMPACT news, April 25 (UTC+8): Google announced it will invest up to $40 billion in AI company Anthropic. The first tranche is $10 billion injected based on its current $380B valuation, with the remaining $30 billion tied to specific performance targets. Since 2023, Google has invested more than $3 billion in Anthropic and currently holds about 14% of the company. Earlier this month, Anthropic secured 5 gigawatts of compute capacity through agreements with Google and Broadcom. Just a few days ago, Amazon also pledged an additional $25 billion investment in Anthropic, meaning that in just a few weeks, up to $65 billion could flow into the company behind the Claude AI model. Anthropic’s current annual revenue is already over $30 billion, and it is expected to go public within the next few months.
