Many people fear losing because they equate failure with denying themselves. But experts see failure more like gathering information: where their judgment went wrong, where their ability falls short, and where the system has loopholes. The more they lose, the better they build an accurate understanding of reality. Meanwhile, those who rarely lose are more likely to fall into “success delusion,” turning chance into ability and luck into a rule. Once they face a real long cycle or major change, they lack the ability to adapt. So losing is not the opposite of success—failing to learn from failure is what truly fails.
